This weekend, I covered a Latin music festival at the Shops. There was one performer who made for some pretty good images, and he goes by the name Alex Cuba, (click his name to see his site). I wasn’t aware of how much I liked cuban styled music until I heard this guy play!

Dan Boot; an Update

This past weekend, I spent my days shooting a wedding, and an art show at the Shops @ Don Mills mall, in Toronto. This was the first weekend in two weeks that I’ve worked. On my weekends off, I spent time with Sasha in St. Catherines, at her new place. (see photo). I would like to post a wedding photo, but I’ve decided to save those for a later post, when my edits have come along a little further.

On Saturday, August the 7th, 2010, my friends Ryan and Trudy were married. Before they got married however, they asked me to be their photographer. I of course said yes, and the rest is history. I’ll post more once I get editing. As for today, I am off to Toronto for some more shooting.

Events @ Don Mills

Here’s a small sample of the work I’ve been doing up in Toronto, at the Shops @ Don Mills shopping mall. Every weekend the mall throws a community style event, such as an outdoor movie night, or a concert series of some sort. They’ll often have street performers roaming around the ‘town square’ as well, to entertain kids and adults alike, and I am paid to go to these things, and take photos of what catches my eye.

I took a photo of a big spider, because big spiders creep the crap outta me, and the full moon photo seemed to fit today’s theme.

So as you may have been able to tell, as I have, (after both my girlfriend and my mom mentioned that I haven’t updated my blog in a while), that I haven’t updated my blog in a while… Well I have a good reason, I swear. Between my ‘keep the cash flow-flowin factory job,’ and my freelance gigs, I’ve been pretty busy, to say the least. I’ve been working up at the Shops @ Don Mills in Toronto from weekend to weekend, and I’ve also been fortunate to do a little shooting for a local artist/designer here in Woodstock. So needless to say, between a 42-44hr work week, topped off with shooting on weekends and editing those photos on weeknights, I haven’t got a lot of “free time”. This post contains photos I took this past weekend, while working in Toronto, where I met and took photos of ex-BareNaked Ladie, Steven Page. (The one with the cociane scandal).

To explain the portraits a little, as I am aware they aren’t the best photos I’ve taken, I was told that I would have the chance to shoot Steve Page, before he went on the stage, and that I’d get to take his photo 15 mins before he went on. Long story short, he took a little longer than expected, and the light was quickly fading. I decided to take my chance with available light, instead of using on camera flash, and as he approached, I kindly asked him to stand where the light was decent, and 30 sec later, it was over and I had my 9 frames that I hoped would work.
